Okay I have to make this quick. I'm battling a blogger's worst enemy. NO INTERNET. This is a post that needs to go up now, though. The life of a Sailor means frequent and extended separation from friends and family. You just can't stay in touch when you're in the middle of the ocean.
The support of family makes it worthwhile. It's a huge moral booster and motivator. While I was home on leave both my mother's and father's family poured it on. In the above photo I'm having dinner with my mom's side.
This is my cousin, Hannah. I was blown away when she presented me with a card, signed by her entire class, filled with notes of support and appreciation. That meant a lot to me kiddo. You rock Hannah!
This is my dad, his wife Kathy, and Grandma. I spent a week with them, relaxing in the Maryland sun and playing chess with Dadeo. (I think it was Son-6 Dad-1) Grandma said to me: "Well old boy, it was good to see you. You go back there and do great things. Rise above the masses and make your mark." Well said, Grandma!
Finally, I don't have a photo right now, but I have to give a big shoutout to my cousin Keaton. He's about the same age as Hannah, and I had the pleasure of taking him and his mom Kelley on a tour of the carrier. You're a special guy, and I had a great time hanging out with you.
By the way, he shot better video with my camera than I do.
